ReaConverter Command line image processing tool - the fastest way to batch convert and edit your multiple images!

ReaConverter features extensive support for command line image processing of over 340 image formats including PDF, EPS, PS, EMF, WMF.

This feature is primarily intended for specialists and developers. However, it can also be a real plus for any technically experienced person working in the field of professional digital photography.

Note: Command line image converter is an advanced feature meant for professional use, and, therefore, is available in ReaConverter Pro, an advanced professional quality software, only.

Why use command line to process your image files?

ReaConverter has an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) which is good but not at all appropriate for some complex tasks, and multiple images processings can be among them. In such cases you can turn its user-friendly graphical interface to professional-friendly by running ReaConverter from the command line or by using command (batch) files.

Just a few examples when command line image converter is just irreplaceable:

  • If you have to perform frequently reoccuring operations on batch conversion, editing, watermarking, or whatsoever, of large number of images stored on numerous computers.
  • If you need to use command (batch) files for running a series of image manipulations.
  • If you wish to integrate ReaConverter into your custom solution.
  • And much more...
The major advantages of converting and editing images from command line are:
  • Routine and repeatable operations automated.
  • Series of image manipulations handled with ease.
  • Overall conversion speed increased.
  • Errors reduced.
  • Less computer resourses used.
  • Productivity maximized.
  • Time saved.
No longer do you need to perform your tedious work yourselves. ReaConverter Command line image converter will help you handle it better and more effectively!

Format of using ReaConverter command line tool:

Below you will find the description on how to convert image files from the command line using ReaConverter command line tool, namely cons_rcp.exe.

Cons_rcp.exe allows you to run image editing and conversion directly from the command line, command (batch) files, or through third party applications.

The tool deals with configuration (.cfg), action (.act) files. A configuration file contains information on the output format and its settings, destination folder, additional settings, file options, file name modifications, conversion options (transparency color, loading settings, etc.), and, optionally, information on the file list (.lst file). An action file takes care of the actions you need to apply to your images. Both configuration and action files can be saved in ReaConverter as well as in any text editor. However, we recommend saving them directly in ReaConverter as it minimizes the risk of mistakes.

Cons_rcp.exe accepts the following command line parameters:

cons_rcp.exe <config.cfg> [actions.act] [/hide] [c:\test1.bmp ...]

The required parameters:

cons_rcp.exe <config.cfg>, where:

  • cons_rcp.exe is a full path to the tool.

Unless specified otherwise during installation of ReaConverter, cons_rcp.exe is located in ReaConverter folder on your system disk, for example: <C:\Program Files\ReaConverter 5.0 Pro>.

  • <config.cfg> is a full path to a saved configuration file.

The optional parameters:

[actions.act] [/hide] [c:\test1.bmp ...], where:

  • [actions.act] is a full path to a saved action file.

  • [/hide] is a parameter for running con_rcp.exe silently.

  • [c:\test1.bmp ...] is the full path(s) to one or more files.
Iif you specify more than one file path, you should separate the paths by blank spaces
Note that if the file paths to cons_rcp.exe, .cfg file, .act file, or files you would like to convert are very long, or contain blank spaces, you need to type them in double quotes, as shown in the above example.

If you need to edit .cfg and .act files saved in ReaConverter, or create them yourselves using some text editor, please refer to our help topics for detailed information on format of these files and accepted commands. With further questions, please contact out technical support.
