Using ReaConverter

Editing images :: Actions parameters

ReaConverter currently supports most popular editing features digital artist may occur.

AUTO:

Automatic rotate
This 'Automatic rotate' action can be used to automatically deskew images with text (text angle correction), rotate your pictures from landscape to portrait orientation and vice versa, and rotate them in accordance with EXIF orientation information. These operations may cause some loss in quality. Use the 'Antialiasing' option to fix it.

Automatic crop
The 'Automatic crop' helps to automatically crop a needed part of your image by specifying the cropping area color and its tolerance. You can specify the color in accordance with its location on your picture or using a special color picker.

EDIT:

Canvas size
Editing canvas size lets you add or remove workspace around an existing image. You can crop it by reducing the width and height (pixels) of canvas area. If needed, you can also change the workspace color using the 'Background color' option. The 'Anchor' option lets you choose the position of your image on the workspace.

Rotate
This action rotates your images by desired degrees and direction (both clockwise and counter-clockwise).

Mirror
If you need to create a reflection of your image, the 'Mirror' editing operation will let you do it both horizontally and vertically.

Crop
If you need just a part of an image, you can crop it. The 'Crop' action allows you to crop images from any edge, center or symmetrically.

Resize
This action has been designed to change an image size. You can define the new size by editing width and height (pixels or percentage) separately or at the same time, and keep or ignore aspect.

Add border
With this editing action you can add a color rectangular border to your images. The border can be placed inside or outside your image.

Add shadow
Adds color shadow to your images. To create a needed shadow, you should edit shadow blur width and distance (pixels). Editing distance means altering interval between bottom-right corner of initial image and bottom-right corner of its background.

Color replace
This function gives an opportunity to replace the original color on your image with the one you need. The 'Original color' is the color that is being changed by the 'Replacement color'. You can indicate both of them by specifying RGB values or defining the color right from the palette.

Color resolution
You can change the number of colors used in your image with use of the 'Color resolution' option. Usually, the less number of colors you choose, the smaller file you can get.

Remove noise
If your pictures look less attractive due to some tiny dots, in most of the cases, it is thanks to noise. Sometimes the noise may give your image an undesirable look of a really bad quality image. The Remove noise option will help to eliminate it by removing the noise pixels. Note that currently this action is intended for editing black and white images only.

Replace background
This editing operation allows you to alter the background of your image by replacing its color with some other image. There is a large number of color tones, and sometimes it is difficult to differentiate them. A special color picker will help you to select the right color right form your test image.

Jpeg repair
Use the action to repair low-quality JPEG images.

ADJUST:

RGB
This function can be used for color correction, and allows you to increase or decrease the amount of Red, Green or Blue color on your image.

HLS
HLS is an acronym for Hue/Luminance/Saturation. You can use this action to get an effect of a gradual transition of tones from dark to light and light to dark. Adjusting hue represents a move around the color wheel. Adjusting saturation, or purity of the color, represents a move across its radius.

HSV
The HSV (Hue/Saturation/Value) action changes the color of picture with another color base using Hue, Saturation and Value (lightness) parameters. Changing saturation makes your picture more colorful. Change of lightness gives a more realistic effect than change of brightness.

Brightness, contrast
Allows you to adjust brightness and contrast of an image.

A. Saturation B. Hue C. Brightness D. All hues

FILTER:

Blur
You can use this filter to reduce or eliminate noise from an image where significant color transitions occur. The Blur filter smoothes transitions by averaging the pixels next to the hard edges of defined lines and shaded areas. Tent, Rectangle and Gaussian are different methods used to average pixels color.

Sharpen
The Sharpen filter focuses blurry images by increasing the contrast of adjacent pixels.

EFFECTS:

Gaussian blur
The term refers to the Gaussian "bell shaped curve" distribution named after the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss. Using this image-softening effect, you can give your images a hazier look than using the Blur filter. With this effect pictures are being changed in such a way as if you were viewing them through a translucent screen.

Split blur
It is one more way to blur your images. If you use the Split blur effect, your image will be duplicated within your image in such a way that duplicated copies will be overlayed.

Color noise
Use the Color noise effect to add or increase the amount of color noise on your images.

Mono noise
To add noise without affecting color, use the Mono noise effect.

Antialias
Aliasing appears as a high-frequency noise during analog-to-digital conversion. The Antialias effect serves to eliminate such distortion.

Fisheye
Use this artistic effect to apply a fisheye lens view to your image. Set intention to higher position to increase the effect.

Lightness
You can add more light to dark pictures by applying the Lightness effect and changing its intensity.

Darkness
As opposed to the Lightness effect, you can make your pictures look darker using the Darkness special effect.

Mosaic
Fills in an image with color rectangles. One of the possible reasons to use the Mosaic effect is to simulate the low-resolution display.

Twist
Applying the Twist effect you can give your images a special spiral-like look.

Tile
As the result of using the Tile effect, your picture is reproduced by its multiple copies as if it was paved with tiles. You can specify the exact number of horizontal and vertical blocks (for example, 5å5, 10å10, etc.), and increase or decrease their number by changing the intensity settings.

Trace
In ReaConverter the Trace effect is intended for defining boundaries of image areas filled in with similar colors.

Solarize
Solarization represents negative-to-positive inversion. By means of the Solarize effect light areas on the image become dark, and dark are changed to light accordingly.

Posterize
This effect gives your images an artistic look by reducing the number of colors on the image. The resulting image resembles a poster.

Ripple random
A special artistic effect that adds random water ripples on your images.

Ripple toot
Using this effect you can cover your pictures with sawtooth waves.

Ripple triangle
This ripple effect is similar to the Ripple random and the Ripple tooth with the difference that the waves are sharpened.

Spray
Another way to edit your images is to add the effect of sprayed water.

WATERMARK:

The main goal of applying watermarks is to protect your images from unauthorized commercial use. ReaConverter gives you a choice to add either image or text watermarks.

Watermark
As an image watermark, you can take any picture you want to place over your valuable image. Use the 'opacity' option to make it as transparent as you need. You can also specify the watermark transparency color, rotate and set it to the needed position on the image.

Text watermark
This action allows you to place a text watermark on your images. You can set its position, opacity level and font parameters. You can also place the EXIF data of your original image (this option is intended for professional use).

PHOTOSHOP EFFECTS:

Besides, ReaConverter provides an opportunity to apply effects offered by a number of special Photoshop-compatible plugins produced by third-party vendors. The currently supported plugins are Exposure, Eye Candy 5 Impact, Xenofex 2 and Image Doctor made by Alien Skin Software.

Exposure plugin gives images the look of black and white film, or color film.

Eye Candy 5 Impact lets you achieve such special effects as bevels, brushed metal, chrome, glass, gradient glow, motion trail, super star.

Xenofen 2 helps to simulate burnt edges, classic mosaic, constellation, cracks, crumple, flag, lighting, little fluffy clouds, puzzle, rip open, shatter, stain, television.

Image Doctor provides such options as JPEG repair and spot lifter which, if needed, help in fixing your images and improving their quality.
