An STS file contains a two-dimensional vector representation of the bottom solder mask which makes up a printed circuit board (PCB), and it is most likely created and processed with Eagle software. STS is part of a larger family of extensions called Gerber, which represent the de facto standard used in the PCB industry. Gerber files describe various aspects of electronic boards, including copper layers, solder masks, electrical connections, drilling or milling data. Similar formats include SOL, STC and PLC.
The DIS extension is associated with the DKB Ray-Tracer, a piece of software originally created by David Kirk Buck and Aaron A. Collins, which served as a predecessor for the POV Ray-Tracer. The latter software has the capacity to generate images from text-based scene descriptions and works on various platforms. Though fairly popular on PC/MS-DOS platforms at its release, the DIS format is now obsolete. It can, however, be viewed and converted to more accessible formats.
The quick and simple way to handle your files is to get a quality piece of software, such as reaConverter. As you will soon realize, reaConverter will help you avoid spending countless hours trying to figure out how to convert STSs. But at the same time, it will allow you to apply a wide range of editing options.
reaConverter is quick to download, install and launch, and you don't need to be an IT specialist in order to understand in a few minutes how it operates.
Start reaConverter and load all the .sts files you intend to convert into .dis because, as opposed to most free online converters, reaConverter supports batch conversion. So you can save the time and energy you would lose with doing repetitive operations.
Select STSs from a folder or by drag-and-dropping them directly into the reaConverter window.
Go to the Saving options tab and decide where you want to save new .dis files. You can also spend a few more moments to apply additional editing to the images prepared for conversion.
Then pick the DIS as output format. To help you do this, a series of buttons is conveniently placed at the bottom of the reaConverter window, so you can simply press on the one you need or click Plus button to add new options.
Then simply press the Start button and your conversion will begin in no time!
