The CRW format is used for creating and storing RAW images using some Canon cameras. RAW images are often favoured by photographers because when shooting in RAW mode the lens captures images that are as close as they can get to what you see with your naked eye. Moreover, they can be strongly edited using digital post-processing and allow a high degree of control for the photographer in what concerns aspects such as color, saturation and filters. However, RAW files can be up to 6 times bigger than JPEG files, thus being difficult to transfer and store.
