GEOTIFF to WEBP: what to expect from the conversion
GEOTIFF describes geometry rather than pixels, so it has no inherent resolution. The conversion renders it at whatever size you choose, and that choice is final: enlarging the WEBP afterwards will not recover the sharpness. Set the output dimensions or DPI before converting, not after. GEOTIFF carries 16 bits per channel and WEBP carries 8, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to an 8-bit format only at the very end.
