ALS is a bitmap image extension associated with a software package developed by Alias System Corporation. Established by Silicon Graphics in 1995, this company resulted from the merger of Alias Research with Wavefront Technologies, and in the early 2000s became part of Autodesk. Autodesk Alias offers a set of tools that help engineers, architects and designers manage computer-aided industrial design projects. This software package can also be used for sketching and styling projects in other domains, such as automotive, aircraft, marine or fashion accessories.
