GEOJSONS (GeoJSON Sequence, RFC 8142) is the strict form of a sequence of GeoJSON objects. Each record starts with the ASCII record separator, the control character with the code 0x1E, then comes one GeoJSON text in UTF-8, and a line feed ends the record. The separator makes the boundaries unambiguous even when the JSON itself is spread over several lines or contains line breaks, and a reader that meets a damaged or truncated record can skip to the next separator and continue instead of failing. The standard describes a specialization of JSON text sequences, and each text must contain a single GeoJSON object, which is usually a Feature but may also be a bare Geometry, so mixed sequences are allowed. Coordinates follow the GeoJSON rule of longitude first and latitude second in WGS 84. Many tools also accept the simpler form with only line feeds, but writing the separator is what makes a file conform to the standard, and the .geojsons extension is conventionally used for files that do. Unlike an ordinary GeoJSON file, where all features are gathered into one block, a sequence can be created and read as a stream, feature by feature, which saves memory when working with very large data sets.
