FAQ
MIDI to CGM Conversion
What are MIDI files?
MIDI files with the .midi extension store a musical composition as notes: which pitch is played, when, for how long, and how loudly, for each instrument. That is the content of a musical score, so programs for writing music can display such a file as sheet music on staves, let the user correct the notes, and print the result. The format is the same Standard MIDI File as .mid, and it contains no recorded audio, only the notes and the settings of the performance, such as the tempo and the time signature.
What are CGM files?
CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) is a format that contains vector graphics information (clip art, drawings) associated with graphics design or CAD programs. As opposed to other types of metafiles, such as EMF or WMF, CGM files are not only supported by Windows, but can be used on different platforms too. They are encoded using binary, character-based of clear-text encoding.
