PNT is a binary file that stores the coordinates of the points of one MiraMon layer. The format is open, and the layer is a small group of files with the same name: the .pnt file with the coordinates, the T.dbf file with the attributes in dBASE format, and the T.rel file with the description of the layer in the INI style, where the letter T stands for points. In MiraMon, every layer holds only one kind of geometry, so points are never mixed with lines or areas in the same file. The points can have a height, and the file supports layers with and without it. The format belongs to a family with the .arc, .nod, and .pol files, which hold lines, nodes, and polygons, but a point layer is independent of them. A point layer can be built from a simpler unstructured vector file of MiraMon, and a text vector file can be converted to a PNT file with the tools that come with the program. Because the format is open, other programs can read it, but the .pnt file alone is not enough, since the attributes and the coordinate system are stored in the companion files. Supported by MiraMon.
