How to Convert Multiple FITS Images to PPM?
1. Download and Install reaConverter

2. Load your FITS files
Add FITS files to reaConverter. One file or a thousand, the process is the same. Everything runs locally on your machine.

FITS to PPM: what carries over and what does not
FITS stores 32-bit greyscale covering the full dynamic range of the scan, and PPM shows 8 bits. The conversion applies a window level, so what ends up visible depends on the window you choose. Decide separately whether patient metadata should be copied to the output or stripped from it. FITS carries 32 bits per channel and PPM carries 16, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to a 16-bit format only at the very end.
