It is developed by the Maps for HTML Community Group of the W3C and is still an experimental proposal, but it is already used in services such as those of Natural Resources Canada and in GeoServer.
What are PLT files?
PLT is a vector image format representing the HPGL standard language developed by Hewlett-Packard for printing line drawings. HPGL is supported by AutoCAD and other CAD software programs. PLT files represent plotter images that can be printed using a computer printer specialized in vector graphics (called "plotter"), which renders images as lines not as dots.
