What are POTM files?
POTM is the macro-enabled form of the POTX template. The letter m in the extension shows that the file may contain VBA macros, in the same way as in PPTM and PPSM files. Its package is a ZIP archive with the XML parts of a template, namely the slide master, the slide layouts, the theme, and optional sample slides, and with a VBA project that holds the code. When a new presentation is created from the template, PowerPoint opens an untitled copy and the macros are available in it, so that a company can distribute a template with pre-approved automation, such as insertion of standard slides, or a check of the required fields. If the copy is saved as a PPTX file, the macros are not saved with it, so it must be saved as PPTM to keep them. Because macros are disabled by default, the user has to allow them, and files of this type should come only from trusted sources. Supported by Microsoft PowerPoint.
