Converting TIF to JPG

The TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) or TIF format is a popular type of the raster graphic file, suitable both for handling with various types of image editing software and with scanning or printing equipment. Since the 1980s when it was created, the TIF format has received a series of improvements, so at the moment there are several types of the TIFs available. Some of the main advantages of using TIF files include their high image quality and their availability for editing. As opposed to JPEG, for example, TIFs provide a lossless compression and have the ability to preserve a detailed rendering of an image's colors and details. One of the disadvantages, however, is file size, which makes TIFs difficult to store and transfer.

JPEG is one of the most popular image file formats currently in use, often referred to as a standard for uploading images online and for displaying photographs. One of its main advantages is providing a good image quality in a relatively small file size, which is easy to store and transfer. JPG images manage to do this by using a type of compression that prioritizes the quality of some image sections over others, thus assuring that high-quality is preserved in the parts of the image that the human eye perceives as most visible. Even though it is a lossy format, which means it does compromise in terms of rendering color, JPG is regarded as one of the most favourable extensions when it comes to achieve the best quality/size ration.
