What are VFK files?
VFK is a plain-text file in which the cadastre of one area is written as a series of tables, each describing one kind of object. The lines of the file begin with an ampersand and a letter that says what the line is: a line starting with &H holds a header item, such as the version of the format, the date of the data, or whether personal data are included, a line starting with &B opens a table, called a block, and names its columns with their data types, and each following line starting with &D is one row of that table. The values in a line are separated by semicolons, and text values are placed in quotation marks. The blocks have short codes, for example PAR for parcels, BUD for buildings, SBP for the surveyed points that construct the map features, HP for parcel boundaries, OPSUB for the entitled persons and organizations, and VLA for ownership. Rows refer to one another by identifiers, so a parcel row points to its boundaries and to the rights attached to it. Since version 5.3, the owner identifiers are replaced by pseudonyms, personal data are removed from the issued data, and an export covers one cadastral area. The structure of the format is defined by the Czech cadastral office, and the files can be loaded by programs that follow that description.
