Before you convert VRT to STP

VRT holds no pixels of its own. It is an index: a list of other raster files plus instructions for mosaicking, clipping or rescaling them, so it converts only when every file it points to is present at the path it records. A VRT copied to another machine on its own produces nothing usable. Converting to STP renders the assembled result into one real file, which is often the whole reason to do it. VRT is made of pixels and STP is a geometry format, so the two describe shape in fundamentally different ways. Check the result before sending it downstream: what matters is whether the output contains usable geometry or a picture placed inside an STP container.
