The meaning of the object codes, such as which code stands for a river or a bridge, and the symbols used to draw them are not in the file itself but in a separate classifier file with the .rsc extension. SXF exists in a binary form and in a text form, and the text form is meant for easy exchange between different kinds of computers.
What are PGM files?
The PGM or Portable Graymap format is part of a package of open source graphics programs called Netpbm. Other Netpbm formats include PPM (Portable Pixmap) and PBM (Portable Bitmap), also known under the collective name of PNM (Portable Anymap).
